Non Woven and Woven Geo Textiles are both engineered fabrics, but they are made differently and behave differently.

Non Woven: short fibres needle-punched or thermally bonded into a felt-like sheet. Higher porosity, better in-plane drainage, lower tensile strength. Best for separation, filtration, drainage and protection.

Woven: continuous filaments interwoven into a fabric with regular grid pattern. Lower porosity, higher tensile strength, lower drainage capacity. Best for reinforcement, stabilisation of weak sub-grade, basal reinforcement of embankments.

Key selection rule: if the primary job is to let water through while keeping soil apart, choose Non Woven. If the primary job is to add tensile reinforcement to a weak layer, choose Woven or a combination of geogrid plus Non Woven.

Cost: Woven is typically more expensive per square metre at equivalent weight due to manufacturing complexity. Selection should not be driven by cost alone — wrong choice causes performance failure regardless of price.

Auroguard supplies both Non Woven and Woven Geo Textiles. We help engineers match the right fabric to the right function on every project.
