Geo Grid installation is straightforward when done correctly, and failure-prone when shortcuts are taken. The principle is simple: place the grid flat, overlap or connect adjacent rolls, and cover with confining aggregate without damaging the grid.

1. Sub-grade preparation: level and compact the underlying soil to design density. Remove sharp objects that could puncture the grid.

2. Roll placement: unroll Geo Grid in the direction of the main traffic flow. Keep the grid flat and taut — wrinkles defeat the reinforcement.

3. Overlaps and connections: minimum 300 mm overlap between adjacent rolls in the direction perpendicular to traffic. For high-strength uniaxial walls, mechanical connections (clips, bodkin joints) are required.

4. Aggregate placement: dump aggregate forward from one end onto the placed grid, never directly on un-aggregate-covered grid. Use light equipment for the first 150 to 200 mm lift to avoid damaging the grid.

5. Compaction: first pass with light roller, subsequent passes with standard compactor. Confirm density meets specification.

6. Quality control: photograph placement, retain mill certificates, log roll IDs against chainage.
